Country music stars Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire have long been friends, but in March they will become siblings too. Well, at least for a day. Blake Shelton will guest star on Reba's new show, "Malibu Country", playing the part of her brother.
"Malibu Country" premiered in November of 2012 and has gained a regular viewership, prompting ABC to order more episodes. Reba McEntire plays a recently divorced mother of teenage children who is trying to refuel a stale music career. Reba's tv family moved from Nashville to Malibu, California and quickly realized just how out of place they were, but have each discovered new friendships along the way. Blake Shelton will contribute his humor to the show on March 1st, in an episode titled "Oh Brother".
Huffington Post has quoted Reba McEntire as saying:
"I've already talked to Blake [Shelton] and Kelly [Clarkson] and they said ... that they would appear, so we just got to get the script right when we need 'em in here."
Kelly Clarkson has also maintained a friendship with Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire, since she paired with Blake on NBC's "The Voice" and with Reba in the recording studio. In fact, Blake Shelton recently had a hand in Kelly Clarkson's engagement to Reba's stepson, Brandon Blackstock.
"Malibu Country" airs on ABC Friday nights at 7:30 Central.
