Blake Shelton invites himself to Kelly Clarkson's wedding

Pop rock star Kelly Clarkson has been flirting with country music for years. She has sang duets with Reba McEntire, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton and Vince Gill; stood in as musical mentor on NBC's The Voice; starred as a mentor on ABC's Duets which also featured country's Jennifer Nettles and has made plans to sing on Jewel's next album.

What Kelly Clarkson probably didn't know when she began this on again off again relationship with country music was that she'd one day have country music to thank for the shiny engagement ring on her finger.

In December of 2012, Kelly Clarkson became engaged to Reba McEntire's stepson, Brandon Blackstock, who is also the son of her manager. Though Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock dated for almost a year, it was reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Blake Shelton who pushed Brandon Blackstock to propose.

Blake Shelton reportedly told Brandon Blackstock that he needed to marry Kelly Clarkson and that if he'd only pop the question, Blake himself would perform at their wedding. Well, that was certainly one way to get himself invited! But this week, Kelly Clarkson confirmed that she has accepted Blake Shelton's offer to sing, so it looks like Blake Shelton's pushiness has paid off in more ways than one. Kelly Clarkson gets her guy and a free wedding reception performer to boot.

A fall 2013 wedding is planned for the happy couple.
