Blaine Carver's hat trick leads SPU Falcons in 8:1 blowout

Freshman forward Blaine Carver (see video interview at left) had a hat trick – Seattle Pacific’s second in two weeks – helping the Falcons finish their non-conference schedule with an 8-1 men’s soccer victory against the University of Mary on Saturday at Interbay Stadium.

SPU (6-5-2) now has won three straight, is on a 6-1-1 run after an 0-4-1 start. The Falcons have climbed above .500 for the first time this season.

The Marauders, from Bismarck, N.D., fell to 0-14-0.

The margin of victory and the eight-goal total were Seattle Pacific’s largest in 10 years – exactly to the day -- since a 13-0 rout of Montana State Billings on Oct. 16, 2000, at Interbay.

“We haven’t always had those days so it was nice to be able to have that tonight,” SPU coach Mark Collings told SPUFalcons.com.

Brent Richards leads Huskies over Oregon State

Daniel Gray, Brent Richards and Quinton Beasley all netted goals as the UW men's soccer team blanked Oregon State, 4-0, in Pac-10 play Friday night at Husky Soccer Stadium.

"It was a close game at halftime and the second half our guys really seized control," head coach Dean Wurzberger told GoHuskies.com. "Of course goals change the course of things. The second goal was a set play. We worked something with Michael's throw and we nearly scored off of it in the first half. So it's a highlight when you work on something and you can implement it.
