After not being happy with their play in the third period of Game 3, the Blackhawks found leadership from their captain, Jonathan Toews. On the penalty kill, Toews stole the puck from Justin Williams and raced down the ice beating Jonathan Quick with a quick shot at 5:26. However, the Kings would come right back as a centering pass to the front of the net missed Jeff Carter and found its way to Slava Voynov. Voynov was able to skate into the slot and had a clear look at the net beating Crawford on the power play at 6:16 with a slap shot to the top left corner of the net. But the Blackhawks would show some resolve as Michal Rozsival was able to skate into the slot and fire a shot at Quick. Toews was there to clean up the rebound for his second goal of the evening at 13:19 to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead heading after one period.
The second period featured the Blackhawks with a 10-4 edge in shots. But unable to capitalize on three power plays would hurt the Blackhawks. The Kings would tie the game when a Johnny Oduya turnover behind the net was converted on by Jeff Carter who was all alone in front of the net and slammed home a pass from Tanner Pearson at 8:08. The Kings would take the lead for good when Carter sprung Tyler Toffoli with a pass that found Toffoli behind the defense and on a breakaway. Toffoli slid the puck underneath the left pad of Crawford at 14:19.
In the third period, it was the Kings who took it to the Blackhawks stifling any dream of a comeback with a dominating 18-7 edge in shots. Just two seconds after their power play expired, the Kings would extend the lead when Drew Doughty beat Crawford with a shot that he should have stopped to the far post at 11:57. The Blackhawks would score a meaningless goal when Patrick Sharp redirected a Nick Leddy shot past Quick at 19:55.
