"Blackest Night" is Brightest Day for DC Comics

Haven't been reading "Blackest Night"? What are you waiting for? If you haven't, go to your comic book store today and buy as many of the issues as you can find! Not since "Secret Wars" and "Crisis on Infinite Earths" has there been such a dramatic storyline that will affect the world of comics and superheroes in a more profound way. The resurrection of the long-lost friends and loved ones as well as their most-hated villains will surely have lasting effects on the DC Universe.

The prophesy of the "Blackest Night" was set in motion long before Hal Jordan became a Green Lantern. It foretold of formation of six additional Lantern Corps, one for each of the remaining colors of the light spectrum. Red would be powered by Rage. Yellow, the second corps to come, would be powered by Fear. Orange would be powered by Greed. Green, the only existing corps at that time, would be powered by Willpower. Blue would be powered by Hope. Indigo would be powered by Compassion. Finally, Violet would be powered by Love. These seven corps would soon be involved in a "War of Light" that would destroy the universe.

Having now published the first six issues of "Blackest Night," eight Green Lantern tie-in issues, six Green Lantern Corps tie-in issues, completed three issue mini-series for Superman, the Titans, Batman, and working on three issue mini-series for JSA, Wonder Woman, and The Flash, Geoff Johns and company are well on their way to carving out a storyline of epic proportion. Artists like Ivan Reis, Doug Mahnke, Ethan Van Sciver, and Christian Alamy have done a fantastic job of making the Black Lanterns truly "come alive" and express all seven emotions of the light spectrum on the pages of Blackest Night and its various tie-ins. This series is a must read for any Green Lantern fan!
