Blackberry Tequila Cooler cocktail recipe

Blackberry Tequila Cooler
Blackberry Tequila Cooler - a fresh, original cocktail

Blackberry season is winding down in California, but just gearing up in Mexico, where blackberries are available from October through May. I picked up some blackberries from Mexico at a local supermarket, and experimented until I came up with this delicious new tequila cocktail.

Blackberry Tequila Cooler

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz Cabo Wabo tequila reposado
  • 1/2 oz cachaça (or silver/light rum)
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 4 - 5 fresh blackberries

  • top with ginger ale

Directions:

  1. Muddle fresh blackberries with the lemon and lime juices in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add tequilacachaça (or rum), and fill the shaker half-way with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously and strain into a fine mesh strainer over a rocks glass filled with ice. (Using a fine mesh strainer will ensure the drink does not have any seeds or stems.)
  4. Garnish with half a lemon wheel.

You got my attention with the blackberries - which I dearly love. Will need to try it - when MN returns to autumn and I want something as refresing as this!
