Blackberry Tequila Cooler - a fresh, original cocktail
Blackberry season is winding down in California, but just gearing up in Mexico, where blackberries are available from October through May. I picked up some blackberries from Mexico at a local supermarket, and experimented until I came up with this delicious new tequila cocktail.
Blackberry Tequila Cooler
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz Cabo Wabo tequila reposado
- 1/2 oz cachaça (or silver/light rum)
- 1/2 oz lemon juice
- 1/2 oz lime juice
4 - 5 fresh blackberries
- top with ginger ale
Directions:
- Muddle fresh blackberries with the lemon and lime juices in a cocktail shaker.
- Add tequila, cachaça (or rum), and fill the shaker half-way with ice.
- Shake vigorously and strain into a fine mesh strainer over a rocks glass filled with ice. (Using a fine mesh strainer will ensure the drink does not have any seeds or stems.)
- Garnish with half a lemon wheel.
