Beloved MTV papa and Black Sabbath iron man, Ozzy Osbourne was on his book tour signing copies of his new autobiography I Am Ozzy in a Palm Beach Gardens Barnes and Noble book store, when a little excitement popped up in the form of a backpack-toting, pot-smoking fan who was arrested at the store.
After doing a search of his backpack, officers found what appeared to be "homemade fireworks." A bomb squad was summoned and the explosives were taken away. Pot-smoking fan was charged with possession of drugs, maybe more.
As you reflect on this story, take yourself back to 1974 and listen to Ozzy and Black Sabbath perform Iron Man. From King Biscuit, an April 6, 1974 performance at the Ontario Motor Speedway (the California Jam, which I attended at 16). Courtesy of Wolfgang's Vault - the cool place to find live music, enjoy!

From Wolfgang's Vault: This complete concert featuring the original lineup of Black Sabbath was recorded at the historic California Jam Festival, which today remains the only rock festival staged on behalf of a television series. The idea was to have a massive one-day music fest that would be videotaped and then shown for several weeks, one act at a time, as an entire season of the late night ABC music program IN CONCERT.
The massive music gathering, attended by nearly 300,000 eager fans, was held on one day, April 6, 1974, and featured co-headliners Emerson, Lake and Palmer and Deep Purple. Also on the bill were Sabbath, Black Oak Arkansas, The Eagles, Earth Wind and Fire, Rare Earth and Seals and Croft.
