'Black Ops II: Revolution' gets first look in video, Zombies mode turns players (Photos)

Treyarch and Activision released a preview video Tuesday for the first "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" DLC titled "Revolution." The add-on is due out at the end of January for Xbox 360 and a month later for the PS3 and PC but you can get a quick look now.

"Black Ops II: Revolution" comes with four new multiplayer maps that each have their own unique gimmicks. "Hydro" features a water spillway that can sweep players away in a rush of water. Meanwhile, "Grind" is set in a Santa Monica, California skate part where everything is curved leaving players few, if any, hard corners to hide behind. "Downhill" is set at a ski resort where moving gondola cars provide either mobile cover or surprise obstacles. Lastly, "Mirage" is set at a resort in the Gobi desert overrun by sand dunes that allows players to run between different elevations.

"Die Rise" is coming on the Zombies side of the fence and is set in a crumbling high rise building in China. Treyarch says it is using the map to introduce verticality to the popular co-op survival mode but it will also have tight, maze-like corridors for players to try and traverse.

Zombies is also getting a brand new mode called "Turned", a first for the series. The new mode puts players in the rotting skin of zombies to try and run and hunt down the lone human survivor. The player that takes out the player then has their turn as the survivor.

"With Black Ops II, the team set out to challenge assumptions about what fans should expect from Call of Duty, and there's no exception with Revolution," said Mark Lamia, Treyarch's Studio Head. "It starts with the massive amount of content that Revolution offers: four distinct multiplayer maps, an entirely new Zombies map and new Zombies mode, and a new bonus weapon. But quantity is just the start — it's the variety of new gameplay options in Revolution that sets it apart, making it our most compelling DLC offering to date, and a must-play experience for Call of Duty fans."
