EA (Electronic Arts) is not the only group adopting the micro-transaction model. Activision's community manager, Dan Amrich, has posted on his blog today, Mar. 12th, detailing the first wave of what they are calling "micro items" to hit "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" tomorrow for the Xbox 360, Wednesday, Mar. 13th in a title update from Treyarch.
A full list of the "micro items" will be announced tomorrow but for today they mentioned some of the items that will be up for sale from prices like 80 points ($1) to 400 points ($5). Some of the items include a personalization packs that will add cosmetic options to your weapons and gear like the Bacon Personalization Pack which will add slabs of this juicy meat to your weapon. Other purchasable items include Nuketown Zombies, for those who didn't buy the hardened or care package editions of the game, and 10 extra class slots which give you a total of 20 total class slots to choose from in a game. Not everything they are offering in the update tomorrow comes at a price, Amrich said that the pre-order bonus map Nuketown 2025 will be added to the game free of charge for all players.
Amrich said the full list of packs and items you can buy will be available tomorrow at CallofDuty.com and wanted to make a note that all of these items are purely optional and do not change the outcome of the gameplay.
