The first news of the upcoming map pack release for Black Ops 2 has finally appeared in the media. Slated for release on January 29th, 2013 for the Xbox 360, the first DLC for Black Ops 2 falls under the name of "Revolution" and brings with it four multiplayer maps, a new zombie map, a new zombie game mode, and a first ever to be seen in any Call of Duty downloadable gun.
The four multiplayer maps include: "Mirage", a sand-battered luxury resort in the Gobi Desert; "Grind", an abandoned skate park in California full of half pipes and skate ramps; "Hydro", a hydroelectric dam in Pakistan that works to wash away players; and "Downhill", a ski resort in the Alps (the first map since the original Black Ops to take place in a snowy landscape).
Coming out with the multiplayer maps are a zombie map as well as an all new zombie game type. In "Die Rise", players are going to be vertically put to the test as it takes place in a series of dilapidated skyscrapers. It is built to confuse players about which way is up or down in some areas and test their survival skills on various levels of each high rise. A new zombie mode called "Turned" takes place in the tranzit map that originally came out with the game. Players can be the undead themselves, all bent on trying to destroy the one human player. The zombie to destroy the human, becomes the human and in turn has to defend himself from his recent comrades.
Along with all this players are to see for the first time ever in any Call of Duty game a new gun that comes along with the map pack. The "Peacekeeper", a hybrid SMG-Assault Rifle, comes along with its own set of XP-earning challenges and is available only to those that pick up the "Revolution" map pack.
The map pack "Revolution" will be available on January 29th, 2013 for 1200 Microsoft points to Xbox Live and will be released to other game consoles at a later date. It can also be purchased through the Black Ops 2 DLC Season Pass, saving players money as well as giving them the exclusive Nuketown Zombies.
