Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, author, radio talk show host, and Founder and President of BOND (Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny), stated on Friday in an email to the Paulding County Republican Examiner that he is defending Duck Dynasty Commander, Phil Robertson and decries A&E’s decision to suspend Robertson.

Peterson is defending “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson. The patriarch of the “Duck Dynasty” hit show who was suspended by A&E for expressing his personal views promoting traditional families and disagreeing with homosexuality in a GQ interview.

GLADD and other homosexual activist groups condemned his remarks and pressured A&E to suspend him.

“The decision by A&E to cave in to pressure from radical homosexual activist groups and suspend Phil Robertson is outrageous! Robertson expressed his personal views about morality, faith, and traditional families. He didn't make the statements on the show. He did not condemn or attack gays, nor did he single them out. In fact, Robertson talked about how his Christian faith instructs him not to judge or disrespect others who don’t agree with his beliefs,” Peterson said.

“This is an attack on the First Amendment and freedom of speech and religion. GLADD and other homosexual groups demand tolerance and inclusion; yet, they are the most intolerant people around. These groups gave Alec Baldwin a pass for repeatedly using a gay slur, but they have no tolerance for people who express their religious beliefs. This is hypocrisy!

On Saturday, Joe Newby of the Spokane Conservative Examiner reported that Breitbart News stated that the Gay and Lesbian Alliance against Discrimination said it is researching other companies who sponsor the Christian patriarch of the popular program.

The issue of Phil Robertson and the A&E network arose from an interview that Robertson gave to GQ on his Christian beliefs. Some media outlets and liberal pundits stated that Robertson equated homosexuality with bestiality which was not the case.

In the GQ interview, Robertson said, “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there.”

Robertson then went on to other immoral sins, outside, not equating homosexuality with bestiality, such as sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men, adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers.

Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson viewed this suspension as another attack on Christians, Christianity, and freedom of speech and said, “A&E should reinstate Phil Robertson immediately or they will face a major backlash from the viewers. Duck Dynasty and Phil Robertson appeal to Americans of all races who love the outdoors and believe in traditional American values. The audience is not just white… there are plenty of blacks, Hispanics, and others who relate to Phil and the family.”

As of Saturday, 1.7 million supporters and the support numbers are rising, not to mention several other Facebook pages with hundreds of thousands more, are in support of Phil Robertson and are boycotting A&E until Phil Robertson is put back on Duck Dynasty.

A petition was also launched on Saturday in support of Phil Robertson with a goal of 200,000 signatures to be sent to A&E.
