A story set in the jungles of Belize introducing Maya, a high school student living in Tucson, who realizes her hopes of joining an archaeological dig and her wildest dreams of fantasy and adventure when she meets a young Maya prince who is not quite what he seems.

But she must also confront drug dealers, kidappers, and her feelings for her new friend, Balam as compared to her Navajo boyfriend back in Tucson.. With the help of her friends, both real and spectral, she solves an ancient puzzle and helps the animals and people she loves. Her brother has an adventure of his own tryting to protect wolves and Maya helps him with some scary characters like a skinwalker and wolf walking on two legs when she returns to Tucson. A different kind of young adult mystery adventure for readers who want to learn more about the Maya, archaeology, the Navajo, and diversiy while enjoying a fascinating and realistic plot with just the right amount of fantasy.
