As Nashville brims with events celebrating Black History Month, the Donelson/Hermitage area offers two educational opportunities this week.

Today a four-part series continues at The Hermitage from 10-2 PM, focusing on the contribution of African Americans to textile and fashion. On February 15 at 10:00 AM Davidson County Historian Carole Bucy will discuss the lives of women of color in pre-Civil War Nashville. The series culminates February 22 in a Memorial Concert and Service at Hermitage Church. For more details on reserving tickets to the free events, go here.

On Monday, February 10, 2014 learn about West and East African traditions at the Donelson branch of the Nashville Public Library. At 10:30 AM The Global Education Center will present Passport to Understanding, an interactive journey including music, toys, crafts, and dance with Ellen Gilbert and Tirra Hargrow.
