In an earlier article Libertarian News Examiner featured three Facebook sites dedicated to Black libertarians. One of those, "African American Libertarians," is barely a month old.
In a wide-ranging exclusive interview AAL page founder "Les" says of himself only that "I work with the LP and run the page."
"Ron Paul was a driving force for my libertarian appetite," he says. "Before this I supported both Gore and Kerry, then McCain in 2008. Something had to change."
That's why he launched AAL now.
Says Les, "The growth of the LP calls for a growth in the reach socially of our party. We just came off the heels of a pivotal election. We didn't win, but we're closer to winning than ever before. I think most black and African American people like myself feel socially liberal, if you please, and want government not to get in the way all the time. They care about making the economy better and moving ahead."
Has President Obama failed black voters?
"Yes he has," Les charges. "His policies have strangled African American communities and he then blames it on the "racist Republicans." It's not a matter of race; they've both failed the AA community across the nation. Our unemployment rate is nearly double the national average under the first black president. Is that right?"
Black leaders like Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton have also sold out Black citizens.
"For example a recent promo for 'All My Babies Mamas' show nothing more than poor parenting, promiscuity and in-fighting over the stupidest things," Les Complains. "Both Sharpton and Jackson keep silent. But if some non-Democrat eats a slice of bread they'd shout 'Look how racist they have become eating bread and destroying the black man...' or some other nonsense."
He's less critical of Black politicians in general, noting that "some know no better then GOP and Democratic policies, some try hard, they just haven't been shown the light of small government and more social freedom."
Some final comments:
"I do indeed believe more guns results in less crime."
"We're running a debt that will soon be 20 trillion, yet Washington continues to use the American Express to pay for all the debt we racked up on our Capital One."
"I like to think of libertarians when compared to Democrats or GOP supporters as the Elvis of the Political sphere: 'A Little Less Conversation, a Little More Action.'"
