Those Columbus residents working off a full Thanksgiving Day meal by hitting the Black Friday shopping frenzy need to check out these deals on Android tablets. Folks in the market for an iPad alternative are finding the lowest prices ever on tablets running Google's mobile operating system.

The Acer Iconia is a Kindle Fire Killer

Why would anyone buy a Kindle Fire when the 7-inch Acer Iconia tablet is $10 cheaper ($189) as part of Columbus Best Buy stores' Black Friday sale? The Kindle Fire doesn't run Android Honeycomb - the only Android version Google certifies as tablet ready. The Iconia is powered by Honeycomb 3.2.

Additionally, the Iconia wins the camera battle over the Fire two to zero. The Fire is also locked down just like the Apple iPad, with no license for the Android Market. Fire owners are forced to get their tablet content from Amazon and only Amazon.

With the Kindle Android app, Iconia owners have full access to Amazon's entire Kindle library, getting the best of both worlds.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 - an iPad alternative?

Samsung's 10-inch version of their Galaxy Tab Android tablet competes well with the iPad in features if not app availability. Columbus HHGregg outlets are sporting a Black Friday offer on the Galaxy Tab 10.1, with customers getting a free keyboard dock and case with each $499 purchase.

Considering Micro Center's $50-off Black Friday deal on the iPad 2, going Apple may be a better option in this case?

Either way, this holiday season looks to be the best yet for making a tablet computer purchase. Android or iPad, buyers can expect Black Friday deals to last well into next week with additional price cuts as Christmas approaches.
