The Black Friday 2013 predictions continue to arrive ahead of the upcoming busy holiday season. In the latest of the sales and deals previews, one site takes a look at Black Friday 2013 laptops and what to expect in terms of pricing. The site gives their thoughts on how much the portable computers will cost depending on size and which types of Black Friday laptop deals might be best.
An Oct. 4 report via Deal News, indicates that laptop sales were weak for much of 2013, but that laptop prices are now "lower than they've ever been before." The site also notes that you can't beat laptops when it comes to productivity, meaning they are likely to be a sought-after item for many savvy shoppers this holiday season. The site breaks down their predictions for what hot laptop prices and deals might be ahead for Black Friday.
In terms of budget laptops, the Deal News site reports they don't expect to see any laptop deals out there priced under $170. Budget laptops are considered to be 15" or 16" models that feature dual-core CPU's (AMD or Intel) and can be used for basic computing needs. The site says they think there's "enough competition in this category to warrant a new low of $170." That is cheaper than many of the lowest-priced tablets on the market such as the Google Nexus HD, the Kindle Fire HDX or the Apple iPad Mini.
The site also predicts that mainstream laptops featuring the Intel Ivy Bridge CPU as the processor will be priced competitively as well. This is last year's processor, and therefore retailers will likely reduce prices to clear out the older models. They're predicting these 15.6" laptops with the Ivy Bridge CPU to go for $285 at the lowest, which is $15 cheaper than any of the best prices seen yet for these.
Deal News mentions two more styles of laptop that will be the "most sought-after" this Black Friday and shopping season: the Ultraportable and Haswell models. Ultraportables are the ultra-light design models that used to be just a niche product, but now have gained popularity along with the mobile tablet revolution. The site is expecting a price as low as $519 for models featuring a Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor with 12" display. They still believe these particular models will remain pricy due to the thin, lightweight builds. Laptops with the Intel Hawell Core i5 processor are predicted to go for around $399 at the lowest, a modest discount from the previous lows of $408.
Overall, that gives prices of $170 at the lowest for anyone looking for a "basic" 15" laptop with dual-core, and a high-end price of $399 for a 15" Haswell Core i5 model. The 12" Ultraportables with Core i5 Ivy bridge CPU's will command the highest "lows" when it comes to deals, at around $519, if Deal News is right with their Black Friday predictions.
In the past, retailers including Walmart, Target and Amazon have made a big deal about their laptop doorbusters, deals and sales. It's likely the same will hold true in 2013, and that some of the styles of laptop mentioned above will be among those featured.
