Details about Black Friday 2013 are starting to pop up online, with just over a month to go before the big shopping day. On Oct. 14 BFAds.net shared some scoop on Macy's Black Friday schedule, which are a big shift from the store's previous plans.
Though in the past Macy's has been closed on Thanksgiving, they are joining the fray this year of stores anxious to get things started on the holiday itself. For Black Friday 2013, Macy's will open at 8 p.m. Thursday evening and they will stay open for 24 hours. This puts Macy's on par with stores like Walmart, Toys R Us and Sears, who did 8 p.m. starts in 2012. Target started at 9 p.m. last year.
Of course potential shoppers will want to check with their local stores, as some areas have restrictions on the stores being open on a holiday. Many experts expect Black Friday 2013 to be a bit subdued compared to previous years, so retailers will be expected to pull out all the stops to pull the customers in to buy.
What do you think of seeing more and more stores open up the evening of Thanksgiving for their 2013 Black Friday sales instead of waiting for the big shopping day itself?
