The Walmart Black Friday 2013 sales and deals have started earlier than the actual shopping day, as the retailer has released "online specials" at the beginning of November. The news comes just as the Amazon Black Friday sales pages were launched as well, with both sites looking to get shoppers' attention earlier than ever. Walmart is dubbing the current sale as "Early Bird Online Specials," about a month before Black Friday arrives.
A report on NY Daily News on Nov. 2 indicates that some of the most enticing deals from Walmart’s early Black Friday sale include a $49 10-inch tablet by XELIO (50% off), a JVC 42-inch LED TV for $300 (originally $500) and an HP 14-inch laptop for just $299 (originally $488). Also shown on their deals page online are a choice of an iPod touch from $199 and Disney’s Sofia-the-First Ride-On-Toy for $99.97. According to Walmart, these are some of the lowest prices “ever offered in those categories” by the retailer.
A spokesman for DealNews website, Mark LoCastro said of the news of the early deals:
“The Black Friday creep is certainly underway earlier than ever, and that’s a good thing for shoppers.”
“Other retailers’ holiday ads have already been coming out, and that helps consumers who can then go out with a shopping list and know how much things’ll cost at certain stores by scanning ads and seeing what’s already out there.”
Also pictured on the early bird online specials area of the website is the Apple iPad mini tablet for just $299. The item sells for $329 at other sites right now, including Amazon.com, making for a bit of a savings. Some stores tend to add more incentive around Black Friday to buy electronics items such as video game systems, iPads and TV's by including a gift card to use at the store. The top-selling items shown on the page are currently a 7-inch RCA tablet for $69 and a Sceptre 32-inch 720p HDTV for $179.00.
The early Black Friday deals from Walmart come four weeks ahead of Black Friday itself, with the shopping day falling on Nov. 29 this year, the day after Thanksgiving 2013. Walmart’s Black Friday 2013 ad is expected to leak (or get released) by the retailer about two weeks ahead of the shopping day.
