What can you say about The Black Eyed Peas? You either love them or hate them. Either way, we guarantee you can name at least five of their songs and recite all of the lyrics. Their formula for radio-friendly hits consistently annihilates the pop billboard charts, making producer will.i.am, musician apl.de.ap, black belt Taboo and fashionista Fergie, worldwide household names. They make anthems; the kind of songs that flood the airwaves and completely take over. This quartet of eclectic performers has long since outgrown venues like the old Avalon, and brought a high-tech, high-speed, high-flying show to the TD Garden on Friday night. The perfect mix of lighting, sound and energy got Boston to their feet for, hit after hit from The Peas.

Their current tour features music from The E.N.D., which has sold over 7 million copies to date. The Black Eyed Peas boast a unique synthesized sound that mixes pop, hip-hop, electronica – a sound they call ‘static funk.’ Their music is consuming and catchy and their live show was executed with precision and insane energy. Rocking futuristic costumes and hypnotizing the audience with quite an impressive stage production was key to the success of this concert. The Peas are flashy with mohawks, ninja outfits and glitter, but that’s what you expect at one of their shows. And they do it right.

Opening for BEP was Disturbing Tha Peace’s hitmaker, Ludacris. With more singles than I have fingers and toes, Luda alongside his hype man, Lil Fate did a quick set that touched on some of this Southern rapper’s biggest hits. Ludacris would need an entire evening to cover his rap career. His newest single, “How Low” is in heavy rotation on the radio right now.

Additional support for this mega tour featured, electro-hop rockers LMFAO. Sky Blu and Redfoo know how to party. They changed their lyrics to fit our city, “I’m in Boston Trick.” You might be familiar with that song from the opening theme to MTV’s Jersey Shore and E! Network’s Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami.
