Black Crowes will release live album March 19

The Black Crowes will release a new live album, “Wiser for the Time,” on Tuesday, March 19. The band is currently taking preorders for the special four-record vinyl box set, which weighs three pounds and costs $69.98. Interestingly, the Crowes are only making the album available in vinyl and digital download formats. It will cost $19.99 on iTunes.

“Wiser for the Time” will feature 26 songs from its five-night run of shows at the Best Buy Theater in New York City, Oct. 31 – Nov. 5, 2010. Fifteen of the songs are acoustic and all feature North Mississippi All-Stars frontman Luther Dickinson (who recorded and toured with the Crowes from 2007-2010) on lead guitar. In addition, fans can currently download a free acoustic version of “Under a Mountain” (which is not on the album) from the Black Crowes website – the recording is a bit raw but captures the emotion and looseness that characterized the Crowes’ fall 2010 tour.
