Black cat cookies are a sure hit with both children and adults alike during Halloween season. They are fun and easy to make. You can save a lot of money if you make cookies for yourself and there will be lots of bonding when made together as a family project.
To make these delightful and delicious cookies you will need w cups of sugar, a cut of yogurt butter, 3 eggs, 1 tablespoon of salted caramel syrup, 3 cups of all-purpose flour, ¾ cups of unsweetened cocoa, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ½ teaspoon salt, autumn corn, and red M&M candies.
Merge butter and sugar in large bowl; beat at medium speed until well mixed. Add a single egg at a time, beating well after each egg. Add salted caramel syrup and beat until well mixed.
Coalesce all remaining ingredients but the candies in medium bowl. Decrease speed to low; add flour mixture to butter mixture. Beat until uniform.
Cut dough in half. Shape each half into a ball; compress to 1/2 inch. Wrap each half in plastic food wrap. Refrigerate until firm which should take around two hours. (Time to decorate or rake leaves!)
Preheat oven to 350°F. and roll out dough on lightly floured surface, one-half at a time (leaving remaining dough refrigerated), to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with 3-inch round cookie cutters. Situate onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Pinch up ears at top of each circle with your fingers... Place 2 pieces autumn corn onto cookies for eyes and 1 red M&M candy for nose. Depress tines of fork on each side of cookie below eyes to structure whiskers.
Bake until cookies are set which should be about eight minutes. Let cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire cooling rack.
Helpful tip: Line the cookie sheets with parchment paper for trouble-free clean up.
These cookies taste great warm or cool. Don’t eat up all the dough; there are kitties to be made!
