Day trip to San Francisco
Pier 39 is an iconic San Francisco location. Yes, it may seem a bit touristy, but there is much to do there for the local as well. The pier is home to numerous restaurants, shops, and activities that are fun for families, couples, or lone travelers alike. While on the pier, visitors can take a look at the barking sea lions, which is a great activity for kids. You can also take a boat tour of the bay with Blue and Gold Fleet. Kids can take a ride on the carousel, and kids and adults alike can indulge their sweet tooth with Trish's Mini Donuts, Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream Shop or the Candy Baron.
For lunch, you can check out one of the many restaurants, or, if you want something a little cheaper, go down to Fisherman's Wharf and get some crab cakes from one of the sidewalk vendors.
While you're in that part of town, head up Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower. This San Francisco staple was built in 1933 and was commissioned by Lillie Hitchcock Coit, who wanted to honor the brave firefighters. Coit tower is made to look like the end of a fire hose. the views from the top of the tower are fantastic.
