Happy dog in the Russian River
The day is bright, the sun is out, and there are only a few rogue clouds littering the otherwise perfect sky. You can either stay inside watching some mindless reality show or you can get outside and make the most of your day.
You don't have to travel far in order to find some fun and feel like you're 'not in Kansas anymore.'
Pack your sunscreen, a bag lunch, and a bathing suit and head to the russian river! Many canoe-rental companies line the russian river in Sonoma County. Soar is one such company that rents out sturdy inflatable canoes. Not only is the whole family invited to take a canoe trip, but dogs are welcome too.
The section of the river that the Soar company canoes down has two fun, albeit frightening, rope swings, in addition to many little islands and beaches, perfect for munching on your lunch.
Prices for a rental: $49.00 per adult, $24.00 for children aged 2 to 12. Dogs are $10 extra. The tip will take approximately 4 to 5 hours.
Canoeing is a great activity for those wanting solace from the summer heat, those wanting a special day with that special someone, or those wanting a fun and exciting family outing.

The article reminded me of my teenage years, yes I can remember that far back, and camping trips with my family. My step father knew some really beautiful spots to camp on the river and although there were no canoee rental places back then the river beaches and forests were so beautiful and exciting that we wnjoyed every minute we were there. Thanks for bringing those memories to the forefront. I think I'll try and dig out some of the old pictures and put them on some scrapbooking pages so my grandchildren and future great grandchildren can share in my memories.
The Russian River rocks! Great breweries nearby too.
