Lunchtime is very often the most perplexing part of the day. Many of us are working so we tend to want to find a place that is quick, affordable and dare I say it, healthy. And in reality, this mostly comes in a lunch bag we bring from home.
BUT there is a new option that has just opened in Santa Monica. TRUXTON’s, once a single storefront in Westchester, has a new location on Santa Monica Boulevard and 14th. The restaurant has a comfortable feel without being fast-foodie or chain-like. You can sit at the bar and tuck into some warm cheddar cheese monkey bread with garlic and a cup of minestrone soup. You can choose a healthy green midday meal with the original bistro salad of organic field greens, toasted almonds, feta and butternut squash.
The menu has all the elements you will need at any time during the year – smashed potatoes, pulled pork sandwiches, a variety of pizzas and burgers and vegetarian salads and tacos. This is a good place to go in a group from the office or from home. No one will end up without his or her ‘choice.’ You can even stop in for breakfast and indulge in all the breakfast versions of lunch: Fort Worth breakfast pizza, Pastrami Benedict, and Pablo’s breakfast burrito.
