Breaking news on the Bishop Eddie Long alleged sexual abuse case today. Reuben Armstrong, talk show host and best selling author, tells the Examiner that this is not the first time allegations have been made against Bishop Eddie Long regarding the sexual abuse of young men in his church.

Armstrong reports that in 2006 the alleged sexual abuse of the young men by Bishop Long is something he discussed on his talk show. This occurred after youth pastors from Long‘s church came to Armstrong for help.
Armstrong addresses this type of abuse in his best selling book, “Snakes in the Pulpit”, which was on the Essence Magazine best seller list for over a year.
Armstrong has talked and wrote about the alleged “child predator” Eddie Long to the point where people blamed him for starting rumors.
Two youth pastors from th New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, contacted Reuben Armstrong in 2006 because of his well known status of going after the truth. The youth pastors where looking for help from Armstrong.
They wanted Armstrong to bring to light what they had witnessed at the New Birth Church, especially with their Pastor, Bishop Eddie Long.
The youth pastors claimed that Bishop Eddie Long was having sex with some of the boys in the church. They were very upset about this and did not know what to do. They reported that there were others aware of this situation, but people were afraid to come out and talk about it.
The youth pastors allegedly “feared for their lives” if their names were to be known. The youth pastors told Armstrong that Bishop Long was grooming some of the young boys he had chosen to become his sexual partners.
They reported Long lavished the young boys with gifts and had even taken them on trips. Bishop Long was also paying, for some of the college tuitions for these boys.
The youth pastors believed that Long knew which children to target, Armstrong said. He was told that the boys were children of single mothers with no father figure in their lives. Long would treat them like they were his own sons. Once he gained their full trust and love, Long would allegedly start the sexual abuse.
Armstrong says that “Eddie Long is a very powerful man in the south, and the youth pastors were afraid to go to the authorities.” “The ramifications for coming out with this story could be long reaching and that scared the youth pastors,” said Armstrong.
Armstrong made this a very frequent topic on his talk show, but because Bishop Long has tens of thousands of followers and is considered such a religious icon, no one believed this and accused Armstrong of starting rumors about Long.
With the four young men filing lawsuits claiming that Bishop Eddie Long sexually abused them, people are starting to realize there may be some truth in all of this. The lawsuits may just be the start of Bishop Eddie Long’s demise.
Armstrong believes that “Bishop Long is a child predator” and he has written about this in his books and he has talked for years about this on his talk show.

Bishop Eddie Long was due to speak in a Connecticut Church last week. The First Cathedral Church in Bloomfield was due to have Bishop Eddie Long as a quest speaker. The appearance was canceled and no reason was given for the cancelation, according to the Courant Blog.

Amen! Prosperity ministries, all they want is your money and in some cases sex, this hapens ore than anyone can imagine, but parishoners hold theses pastors up like gods and are afraid to say anything. Parishoners deny and turn it around to accuse those that report the abuse then we have more victims. Report abuse you have nothing to lose.
God only knows the truth, but after reading this article it seems like the accusers could have read the book snakes in the pulpit the stories are identical. I just hope if Eddie Long did it he will come clean and not cause any more embarrassment to the body of Christ. If the alleged victims are telling the truth or lying I hope that comes out soon also. Either way it is not a pretty picture and the world is laughing at the church and it is not funny or a laughing matter.
I think the body of Christ needs to pray for all parties concerned and realize that in the end God is still in control. The truth will come out because what's done in the dark will come to the light !!!
Its alright to pray, but lets not forget the scriptures and rightly divide the word of truth. Some situations do not always require an act of non violence. There are scriptures that read: "in my anger... " and: "in my wrath I..." If we are made in the image of God then we get angry some times. Gideon had to fight against the many mideonites, others will have to fight. God has chosen warriors. The children should not suffer to come unto God.

Well the youth pastors that ran to you sound like cowards to me. What kind of man of god would sit there sunday after sunday and watch and let this happen. Seems like they were there for the glitz and glam of it all and worshipped Eddie Long more than God. Afraid of a MAN and it's more of you than it is him. Eddie Long's church seems to be a joke.
Even if the guys read the book, and then formulated this scheme against Long, which I think is unlikely, at some point, others have come out with these same type of allegations. Where there is smoke.....
I agree. I believe it is very unlikely that the four victims conjured up this story from the book. If that was the case, how does one explain the narcissistic, thug-homo like pictures?
This thing in the church is so well organized that it is nothing but "organized crime." People need to start addressing these issues. There has always been predators in the church.
We need to stop covering up for predators. Children are being hurt, harmed and sold at an alarming rate. Most of the Black leaders are looking for nothing more than non- profit monies. This is why we see so many white people with little black babies.

Having been the victim of a predator pastor here in the U.K, and listening to the accusers explanation of things, I am 100% convinced that he is guilty. His grooming techniques fit the profile of a "highly skilled sexual predator". There is no way that these guys are making this stuff up. Come on church, wake up smell the coffee, that bible warns us that there will be false prophets and teachers amongst us. This is just another sign indicating where we are on God's prophetic time clock.
Gosh, two youth pastors come to you with inside information on molestation and sexual misconduct and then you write a "tell-all" book? So authorities would need to buy the book and read between the lines? Why not go to authorities if you are really offended about the snakes and homos in the pulpit. I don't get any of this....
EXACTLY! Why didn't this Armstrong guy say something? I read somewhere Armstrong is an ex felon and stole an article from Craige Lewis to put in his book. I also see the book advertised by an 'anonymous' commenter in several of the comment sections of the Bishop scandal. Sounds to me like he's profiting the same way the 'snakes in the pulpit' are. None righteous, no not one, save Lord Jesus.
No wonder our children maintain that silly code of conduct about "no snitching" as we watch drugs, murder and theft destroy our neighborhoods... they get it from us. This is sad...

It doesnt matter what I think...I dropped my rocks a long time ago. Throw one stone and you have to dodge five more...All i know is I'm saved...God is still God, the Word is still the Word and Jesus is coming soon! Heaven bound with the hammer down! Everybody needs to get their eyes off whats happening or going to happen with this whole situation and focus on what God is doing in their own lives...The church distracted....exactly what the devil wants...I think I will just pray for Eddie Long and New Birth and leave my opinion in my head.

I have no problem with any gay man or DL man or whatever you want to call yourself. I have a problem with men that go after kids from birth to 18. Please find a man who is 18 years and old. Who you sleep with is your business but not with someone's child.
That photo above is not an "unknown church member", that is Rev. Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King at her mother's funeral which was held at New Birth. Rev. King is also a resident or associate pastor at New Birth. I am curious as to the reason for the complete absence or mention of her name in the news in this whole 2010 drama.
Thank you for all your comments. After speaking with Reuben Armstrong, at length about this issue, he did try and get this investigated, he put it out to the public on his talk show to no avail. No one would come forward and no one would do an investigation without a victim making a claim.
Reuben Armstrong sounded like a very sincere person who has been telling this story for years with people thinking he was just starting rumors. Well, maybe finally someone did?
As far as Reuben's character, I found him to be a genuine gentleman concerned with what is going on under the "name of God" today in the churches.

Thank you for reporting this story. I believe Armstrong 100 %. Look at the way the victims are being treated. People are defending and praying for this "bishop". If people are ignoring and criticizing the victims, I know Armstrong was treated far worse. I'm glad you posted this story, not that I needed anymore proof of the "bishop's" guilt. The photos, the compelling interviews of the victims and the "bishop's" refusal to flat out DENY the allegations is enough for me.
I think your story will help more people wake up and smell the coffee. I know that some people have to actually see photos of him actually touching the boys AND hear the "bishop" confess. I know that there are emotionally blinded people who will defend the bishop no matter what....but if your article helped one person see the light (and I'm sure it did), I'm grateful for that. On Sunday morning Eddie Longs directed his congregation to a passage on the book of Job: that reads:THOSE WHO HATE YOU WILL BE CLOTH WITH SHAME AND THE TENT (EMPIRE) OF THE WICKED WILL BE NO MORE. JOB: 8:22.
As his devoter flock praise and cheer himbecause it was a good word from God, which nthey probably did not really understand the meaning of what this passage said, but because Bshop longs read it... they praise him and cheered him to find out he accidentelly led them to the wrong page. That was the Holy Ghost he said flashing a smile, (perhapes to cover uo his uneasiness), as his devoted flock changed from praising hi and cheering him to laughter as he made it into a joke like.WOW!!!. Longs then mentioned about David and Goliath, but this time proteying himself as Goliath, he then realised that he had made another mistake. I believe this were not mistakes, perhapes the Lord was talking to those young men on as he read Job 8:22. and perhapes he knows there are 4 Davids (+?) out there facing a Goliath. The Goliath in the bible was also very poerful, put a lot of fear on the people, so much that it would paralize them from doing what they had to do, he intimidated them and mind controled them with his power and wealth and size. BUT, there were 4 Davids that stepped out in faith, they had enough of this uncircumcised philistine, they were not going to allowd him to hurt God's children a.nymore. It was not till David steped forward that God made His move. So don't let the enemy lie to you. David knew that as he did his part, God was going to be faithfull to do HIS. AMEN!???know that God will go before you and fight the battle for you If God be for you...what does it matter who is against you. The true will set you free.
