Bisexual comic character Constantine gets greenlit for TV

His bisexual nature wasn't portrayed in the film version played by Keanu Reeves, but the famous bisexual DC Comics character John Constantine is coming to TV, and he may give Doctor Who a run for his money as the hottest bi sci-fi character on the boob tube.

The major network NBC order some pilot shows for the dark heavy-smoking John Constantine. He's a detective and reluctant vigilante who protects the world from evil forces.

The TV versions are coming from David S. Goyer, the guy who wrote the Batman movies for Christopher Nolan, and penned the Superman Man of Steel film last year. Daniel Cerone will be producing it, and was responsible for the twisting-turning Mentalist series.

In the comic book, written by Brian Azzarello, the character talks about the "occasional boyfriend" and has been seen kissing guys. The Hellblazer series that the character comes from has him galavanting around with a few girlfriends but not a steady boyfriend. He has four children with two different women and he likes to wear a trench coat (very Matrix-like).

But, unlike Keanu, the character is often drawn as a handsome blonde-haired blue-eyed rugged character. Comic book experts have analyzed this anti-hero as a thief, a masochist and a sex addict. He's not a model bisexual by any means.

Constantine first appeared in the 1990s, and the movie by masterful Guillermo del Toro with Keanu came out in 2005.

It will be fascinating to see what comes up for TV.
