2009 was a banner year for bisexual books with a total of 25 new bi books published, that I am aware of. Roughly half were non-fiction and half were fiction. With eight new biographies/memoirs of famous bisexual people in history that actually address their bisexuality, instead of censor it (a trend that started as a trickle of books in the 90's and is now exploding), we are exponentially increasing our knowledge of bisexual history. And there are several new fictional stories to enjoy with main bisexual characters, that speak to the experience of being bi.

Bisexual books are not always written by bisexual authors. Most of the fiction and memoir authors are bi but some of the biography authors are not and some I dont know (...they didnt fill out a sexual orientation survey!) Actually, I think it's great that famous bi people in history have a universal appeal.

I have read almost all of the books listed below, listed in no particular order.

My interviews with several of the authors, as well as a number of  book reviews have been posted, with more to come. Links in the list below will connect you to them and I will add links to this list, as I publish more interviews and reviews.

More Non-Fiction:
11. Gaia and the New Politics of Love: Notes for a Poly Planet by Serena Anderlini-D’Onofrio, North Atlantic Books

Books by bi authors that, in my opinion, lack bisexual content:

1. Secret Society of Saint Mystic by Hiram Ed Taylor, Rose Dog Books (This novel has an opposite sex romance. The main character is not written as explicitly bi.)

2. Lavender/Black by Adam Lowe, Fruit Bruise Press (Lots of same-sex poems.)

I've heard conflicting reports about whether this book has bisexual content, but havent read it. Reviews mention bisexuality but the publisher says no. If you read it, let me know your opinion:

1. Wetlands by Charlotte Roche, translated from German by Tim Mohr, Grove Press (fiction)

Note: If more 2009 bisexual books come to light, I will add them to this list.

I'd like to put on your bi-dar a book I am currently reading that was published in 2009. It is called Palimsest by Catherynne M. Valente. So far none of the characters has used the b-word to self identify, but there are a lot of bisexual relationships going on in it.

Thanks, I've added it to the list! Catherynne M. Valente gave a wonderful bisexual speech when Palimpsest won the SciFi/Fantasy Lammy award in May.
