The Bi Writers Association announces the nominees for its second annual Bisexual Book Awards today, in six categories: Bisexual Fiction, Bisexual Non-fiction, Bisexual Speculative Fiction [Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror] Bisexual YA Fiction [Teen/Young Adult], Bisexual Biography/Memoir and Erotic Fiction/Erotica. A total of 60 books were nominated, a record number of bisexual books nominated to any book awards in any year.

Books can be nominated by the publisher, the author or the Bi Writers Association and could be nominated to multiple categories. However, there were so many fiction books nominated this year that all the genre fiction had to be removed from the general fiction category, part way through the nomination period, or the judges would have had to read over 50 books.

The finalists will be announced in April and the winners will be announced at the Bisexual Book Awards Ceremony and Bi Lines VII, a reading and multi-arts celebration of bisexual writing, that will take place on Saturday May 31, so save the date. The festivities will be held in the community room at Westbeth in the West Village, a popular arts venue. Doors will open at 6:30pm for book signings, the program is from 7-9:30pm with more book signings until 10pm and an after-party nearby, location TBA.

Bi Lines VII will feature readings from Bisexual Book Awards finalists, live music and projected art from Anything That Loves: Comics Beyond Gay and Straight edited by Charles “Zan” Christensen. More details will be announced in April and May.
