Birthright of Peconic, located in Hampton Bays, is a charitable organization that provides counseling to women and teens who are pregnant and can't decide whether to abort or have their babies. It is a Christian organization that does not believe in abortion; however, the volunteers at Birthright are loving, kind, non-political and non-judgemental. Teens can call or visit Birthright and their information will be kept completely confidential, i.e. their parents will not be notified.

Birthright offers:

  • free, confidential pregnancy testing
  • pregnancy counseling
  • prenatal information
  • legal advice
  • financial help
  • educational and job counseling
  • maternity and baby clothes
  • adoption referral
  • hotline in the U.S. and Canada: 1-800-550-4900

Birthright goes beyond lip service by helping to make it possible for anyone who wishes to have their baby to do so. Whatever obstacle is standing in the way of a woman having her baby, Birthright will try to help remove that obstacle or find a way around.

The group of volunteers led by Mary Terry are an extraordinarilly dedicated bunch who are truly living out the value of Christian love that is often preached by many but demonstrated by few. It is a wonderful group of human beings to be around. Volunteers man the hotline, provide counseling to the women, and help fundraise.

This Saturday, October 10th, the annual fundraiser "Walk for Life" is taking place at Indian Island Park in Riverhead from 9:00 a.m until 1:00 p.m.  Donations can be mailed to 99 West Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays, NY  11946. People seeking pregnancy counseling, or those who wish to volunteer can visit the office or call 728-8900.
