Golden Globe Award and Tony winner Hugh Jackman brought his critically acclaimed one-man show “Hugh Jackman... One Night Only” from Broadway to the Los Angeles Dolby Theatre for a one-night-only performance on October 12, 2013 in Hollywood, California benefiting the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF).
Performing to the accompaniment of a 17-piece orchestra, Jackman's three-hour show included songs from several productions including Les Miserables, Carousel, The Boy From Oz and Guys and Dolls. The star-studded event raised $1.85 million according to Deadline.
In this variation of his Broadway show, Jackman talked about his family, sang a tribute to his wife Deborra-Lee Furness and shared music and images of his native Australia.
This was the first time Jackman performed the show in Southern California and October 12 just happened to be his 45th birthday! So, happy belated birthday, Hugh!!!
"This is probably the most narcissistic way to spend your birthday," Jackman commented after the show. "I chose my favorite songs and told stories about my life."
Attending the event were actor Tom Cruise, actresses Olivia Munn, Kristin Davis, Katherine McNamara and Cybill Shepherd, fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg, Chairman and Senior Executive of IAC/InterActiveCorp Barry Diller, TV personality Lauren Sanchez, Head of Marketing Design at Chrysler Group LLC Walid Saba, Dreamworks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and his wife Marilyn Katzenberg, singers Neil Sedaka, Carole Bayer Sager and Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds and Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Fox Filmed Entertainment Jim Gianopulos.
