Forty-five years ago on Oct. 2, 2013, George A. Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" was released to theaters. This shocking, horrific film was, at the time, counter-culture, but is now very much mainstream.
In 1968, Romero directed this super low-budge horror film that eventually rise to a billion dollar industry.
Filmmaker Rob Kuhns will release "Birth of the Dead, a documentary about the impact of "Night of the Living Dead," on Nov.6, 2013 in New York at the IFC Center. "BOTLD" will be shown in L.A. on Oct. 18 2013.

To celebrate the opening of this soon to be classic documentary, the filmmakers have launched the "BOTLD Zombie Photo Contest." Contestants can upload a black and white photo of themselves imitating a zombie to Facebook to have the chance to have the photo featured in a vintage-style "Birth of the Living Dead" poster.

"Night of the Living Dead" is an international art film. It speaks to race relations and the horrors of the Vietnam war.
