BIRTH OF CHRIST: DOES ANYONE CARE?

There was no room for them at the “katalume” translated Inn, but in Luke 22:11 and Mark 14:14, we see it is a guest chamber. When we read Luke second chapter, we learn that Augustus Caesar had demanded the entire Roman world to be registered for being taxed. To do that everyone went back to their home towns. Since both Joseph and Mary were of the house of David, they went to the City of David, Bethlehem Ephrata, where all the other descendants in the kingly line would have gone.

The hills around Bethlehem were the areas where all the sacrificial animals were raised for the daily and feast sacrifices. There were priests who were literally raised and taught how to watch and protect the various animals; and make sure only those without spot or blemish was presented for sacrifice. They did not keep these thousands of animals in the field during winter. This did not take place in the winter time.

There was a watch tower in which was an area with mangers for birthing the animals. There they were swaddled for protection at birth. They later used the swaddling bands to restrain the animals as they were further examined before being sent for sacrifice. "And you, O Tower of the Flock (in Hebrew, Migdal Eder), the stronghold of the daughter of Zion, unto you shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem" (Micah 4:8).

In order for these Priest shepherds to understand the sign, “You shall find the child wrapped in “the manger” (definite article “the” not “a” is the correct designation) they would likely have had to know where that manger was. Of course they did, it was where they swaddled the lambs to be sacrificed. In those days when you mentioned Bethlehem, the average jew would think sacrificial animals.

Thus what actually happened is that the descendants of David dwellings were full and they would not kick out other members for Joseph and Mary and they ended up fulfilling the 1500 years of practicing for this event by the Jews. Mary and Joseph would have had to stop and used the very clean Manger (a depression cut in rock) where the lambs for daily sacrifice were swaddled. This would have been in the Migdal Eder, “tower of the flock.” And as scripture said he (Jesus) was made flesh and dwelt (Tabernacled) among us. That was said because this birthday as also shown by the astronomical sign in Revelation 12, took place on the Feast of tabernacles 3BCE. That sign is scientifically as exact as you get.

Now herein is a fascinating thing. Tabernacles is a commanded Feast to be kept. The whole world will be forced to keep it when Christ comes (Zechariah 14:19). Many early Americans did not keep December 25th because it was the birthday of most all pagan gods. Who cares? After all God does not care what you do as long as you mean well and do it in his name right?
