Birth A.D. live at SXSW in Austin - March 20

As those who have been reading this blog may know, we like up and coming bands, especially those who keep an older style alive without being the warmed-over reheat-on-irony facade that "retro" always turns out to be.

One example of such a band is Birth A.D., who resurrect the "thrash" style. Thrash was never metal, but half-metal and half-punk, and appealed to both audiences with its short punchy songs that were like really intense hardcore with a broader, more historical, more METAL perspective on the world.

Take old thrash bands like DRI, SOD and throw in a dash of The Misfits, and you get Birth A.D. from Austin. They write short songs with punk/metal riff hybrids. They're funny and insightful. Even more, they scorn your civilization. They are a mocking voice of discrimination against stupidity.

And now, they're going to help destroy SXSW, the music festival in Austin. They're going to overturn the overflowing portapotties! Smash the overpriced drinks! Disruptive the self-indulgent, navel-gazing indie rock tripe that passes for "profound" among the clueless! And probably sodomize some eardrums.

Check 'em out if you get a chance and are unfortunate enough to be in Austin. See this link for complete show listing, directions, parking and tickets. Video follows for a good taste of what they're about.

Wah wah, if you hate it so much why don't you leave you fatalist, incapable f@cktard?

Boris- in case you didn't notice, Brett is from Houston, not Austin, so he has no reason to leave, since he's not there.

    Moron.
