The anticipated third installment to the “BioShock” franchise has now released and Irrational Games’ Creative Director, Ken Levine, took to the official Playstation Blog today to leave a special launch-day message to fans of the series to commemorate the launch of "BioShock Infinte." Levine emphasizes that the overall wish that the developer has had in the past several years of making the game is to make a game for players and that “belongs to gamers.” Ken Levine’s entire message to the gaming world is as follows.
Our goal has always been to make the player a participant in our games. The worlds of Rapture and Columbia are dripping with detail and story. Combat is full of player-driven options. We don’t want you to observe Booker DeWitt as he fights his way through BioShock Infinite. We want you to be him.
BioShock Infinite’s city of Columbia is a place of mystery, danger and action. And after nearly five years of building it, I’m proud to tell you it no longer belongs to Irrational Games. It belongs to gamers.
In the latest offering of the franchise, “BioShock Infinite” dries players off by taking them out of the ocean depths and instead placing them high in the sky aboard the flying city of Columbia. “BioShock Infinite” promises the same level of disturbing enemies and power customization, just in an all-new setting.
“BioShock Infinte” is out now on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Ken Levine released his special note today to fans to honor the game’s launch.
