Biomass Mutation is one of the newest "Magic: The Gathering" cards spoiled today from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set "Gatecrash."
Biomass Mutation - X[G/U][G/U]
Instant (Rare)
Creatures you control become X/X until end of turn.
"A regression to ancient forms? A glimpse of Future evolutions? Or a fleeting alteration of the present?"
-Vorel of the Hull Clade
Sometimes you have a lot a small creatures, however it can take forever to actually ping your opponent to death with them. What if all those little 1/1 Saproling tokens you made from Jade Mage were 5/5 instead? It would only take a few unblocked creatures to kill your opponent.
Increasing Devotion, Krenko, Mob Boss, and Thraben Doomsayer can all create a small army of tokens for you to grow with a late game Biomass Mutation.
Of course, the obvious use of Biomass Mutation is in a Simic deck filled with Evolve Creatures. Because of the way +1/+1 counters affect power and toughness, your Experiment One, Cloudfin Raptor, and Elusive Krasis will become massive game ending threats.
It's important to note that because Biomass Mutation is an instant it can be used as a combat trick on your opponent's turn too. This will be especially relevant in limited, where it can allow you to kill multiple opposing creatures when in the right situation.
How will you use Biomass Mutation?
