"Binghamton Restaurant Week made its first impression on the community in the Spring of 2010 when a small coalition of downtown restaurant owners formed with the shared wish to further the food and beverage culture in Binghamton, NY.
BingRW has expanded from downtown Binghamton to include Binghamton’s south side and west side. The organization focuses its attention on creating community value – a core principle in their mission: to promote locally-owned businesses, as well as Binghamton culture and pride while raising money for a local charity." Binghamton Restaurant Week 2013 begins today and runs through September 26th. The organizers have made the best use of Facebook, Twitter (#bingfood) and; new this year, Youtube to increase the public's awareness of the event. This use of social media brings much needed attention to both the local area restaurants and the local charity designated each year as the beneficiary of the event's proceeds. This year's nonprofit organization is the Broome County Council of Churches' CHOW program.
