Bindi Irwin chats about Generation Nature at SeaWorld and Blackfish controversy

A couple of weeks ago Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter, announced that she would be teaming up with SeaWorld and become the ambassador for SeaWorld Kids' new Generation Nature (GenN). Generation Nature is a multimedia engagement platform that will allow children to participate in environmentally responsible activities, share their actions, become educated and empowered to serve as game changers for animals and nature.

Generation Nature includes a website, apps, vlogs, online games, and activities. All of these features can be found online at http://seaworldkids.com. Each month, GenN will highlight a new animal like polar bears, turtles, manatees and more. The animal highlighted this month is turtles.

Generation Nature is aimed at young children who are interested in the world around them.

A little bit about Bindi: Bindi Irwin is only 15 years old, and though she is very young, she shares a passion about conservation and education about wildlife with her family. Bindi is part of a conservation group called Wildlife Warriors.

While the response to Bindi's partnership with SeaWorld has been very positive, there has also been a little bit of negativity due to the controversial anti-SeaWorld movie, Blackfish. The negativity that surrounds the controversy that is Blackfish has caused several bands to cancel out on SeaWorld for their Bands, Brew, & BBQ event, but has that affected Bindi?

While Bindi has been receiving some backlash, Bindi told me that "Well, you know, there certaintly are positive and negative comments out there, but for me personally, I'm all about being passionate and following my dreams, and my heart, and my passions. So, whether you agree or disagree with me, this is what I love to do, and what I will continue. I will work my whole life to spread the message about wildlife in wild places, just like my dad, just like my mum, just like my little brother Robert. For me, I want to carry on in my Dad's footsteps and make sure that everything he lived and died for continues forever. That's my goal. I want to make him proud. This is my passion and what I want to do with my life and I just want to focus on the positive and how exciting it is that we're getting kids passionate about loving the world. That's what I'm focusing on."
