Today on our travel blog, we are going to again hit the road, this time we are headed to a small town in Northeast South Dakota, reason for our travel, to visit the world's best pheasant hunting grounds.
So we will need to catch a plane from Biloxi-Gulport International Airport and fly to Watertown SD, then pick up a rental car and travel about 1hr north of that. This will put us on Big Stone Lake, here we will check into our Resort cabin, and get ready to hit the hunting trails.
We find that this past weekend pheasant hunting season has opened in this area, this is a huge event for the region, drawing people in as far away as Australia. So the mission of this trip is to get us a pheasant, the best way to start is heading out to the Public land around the lake, walking the tall grasses, making sure that we have our orange hat and jacket on for safety precautions.
After a good long day of hunting, nothing beats heading back to the Resort and catching up on some good ol fashion dining at the lake front resorts, there are three two choose from, Shady Beach, Lindon Beach, Sodak supper club, all three offer a wide and great variety on the menu, my favorite is the Beef Steak Cubes, followed up by a nice large Mud pie Ice Cream Dessert.
Now back to the resort to catch some shut eye, before we head back out for day two of this hunting trip.
Make sure to pack warm, the weather is cool as you can see by the image above this week as you head up to enjoy the Pheasant hunting.
