On the eve of his induction into the International Video Game Hall of Fame in Ottumwa, IA, famed gamer Billy Mitchell regained two of the most famous titles in video game history.
Playing at Boomers Greater Ft. Lauderdale in Dania Beach, FL, on Saturday, July 24, Mitchell ran up new World Records on both the original Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Junior, racking up 1,062,800 points on Donkey Kong to take the title from Dr. Hank Chien of New York and 1,270,900 points on Donkey Kong Junior to defeat the record held by Mark Kiehl of Missouri.
The scores, done back-to-back, were witnessed live by two Twin Galaxies referees and also video recorded from multiple views, including footage of Mitchell playing the machine. The scores were announced at this past weekend's International Video Game Hall of Fame "Big Bang" event in Ottumwa, IA.
How are Mitchell's competitors taking the news? At the event, Steve Wiebe, Mitchell's movie rival, shook hands with the once-again champion.
When reached on the telephone for comment today by the author of this colum, Dr. Chien stated "It's well within my reach. I'll be back on top soon."

Where do you even find those machines anymore!?!
PSP, Did you tell Billy that you are coming after his record? :P
Billy has the same blank look in the picture that he had in KoK when Sanders told him what a good guy Wiebe is. jejeje
This is really cool, wish I could have been there to witness. I will definitely be there next year! Good to see these two shaking hands! Who knows next year that might be you standing up there as DK champ!
