When Bill Zinke and Chem-Dry agreed to Clean for the Cause, this not only included lending their skills to those that were looking to adopt a pet on October 5th with The Anti-Cruelty Society (TACS), but also included Chem-Dry going PINK for breast cancer during the month of October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month once again.
Both Zinke and the franchise owners of Chem-Dry companies across the United States feel that their Clean for the Cause Campaign is very unifying. There is groundswell and desire to support the important causes that they truly believe in! The organization as a whole wants to promote a cleaner and healthier world thus they have latched onto other ways to give back – a springboard of causes if you will.
Both of the October events promo causes that are huge! Chem-Dry realized this because they did their homework. When they agreed to partner with TACS, they knew that 85% of households in the country own pets; 69% are dog owners. Thus, working with animal rescue just seemed like a right decision.
On October 5th, three dogs and two cats were adopted. Each of the adoptees received a free carpet cleaning certificate worth approximately $250. Those that came out to support the TACS/Chem-Dry partnership received one free year of carpet cleaning from the participating Chicagoland franchises.
The best thing was that Chem-Dry was able to educate the people present about the importance of a healthier clean. One such lesson was about P.U.R.T. (pet urine removal treatment). They informed the group that pet urine not only gets into the carpet but the sub-flooring and cement, too. This makes for overall unhealthiness. Most carpet cleaners clean the carpet surface with deodorizing materials. Chem-Dry does not use deodorant, P.U.R.T. literally explodes the urine crystals at a molecular level; breaking them apart from top layer to bottom. Attendees truly benefited from this day. The partnership will continue.
As far as going PINK for breast cancer in the month of October, 2013, the Chem-Dry franchisees are all pink companies. The owners and their employees are wearing pink bracelets and pink polo shirts, have pink decals on their work vans, and are giving out money-saving offers publicly. In the years 2011/2012 they were able to raise $100,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation; in 2013 they hope to do even better!
Although October is THE month for breast cancer awareness, it is actually a year-round cause. This year alone, Chem-Dry has pledged to donate $30,000 to fight to alleviate breast cancer.
Bill Zinke, Vice President of Harris Research, Incorporated, the parent company of Chem-Dry is leading this fight. He is encouraging all franchises to become involved. He is promoting Chem-Dry’s superior product and setting loftier goals. Watch and see what this organization has in store next!
