Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY), a divorced Roman Catholic, has proposed new abortion laws in New York that would allow for late-term abortions. Bill O’Reilly has declared war against Cuomo, calling the late-term abortion bill “barbaric,” the New York Daily News reported on Feb. 25.
O’Reilly spoke out against Cuomo’s proposed changes to New York State abortion laws on the Glenn Beck show, calling Gov. Cuomo “barbaric.”
“Andrew Cuomo is barbaric. He’s just barbaric. And the fact that he says he’s a Roman Catholic is just staggering. They want to legalize late-term abortion for any reason. You have a migraine headache, a hang nail, a panic attack. It’s so barbaric that people should be rising up but you’re not going to see it because we’re too busy on our video games. We can’t pull ourselves away.”
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has taken a stand to push through a bill that would reduce New York State’s restrictions on late-term abortions. The new bill, if passed, will allow women to have late-term abortions when the woman’s health is at stake rather than just when her life is at stake. Allowing for late-term abortion when a woman’s health is at risk, rather than when her life is at risk, is a much lower threshold than current abortion law in New York.
Pushing through the late-term abortion bill may be just the thing Cuomo needs as a potential presidential candidate in 2016 to garner support from the extreme liberal left. But at the same time, it could be political suicide when it comes to the broader, more conservative American electorate.
On his own Fox News show, Bill O’Reilly berated Cuomo’s proposed plan, saying that Gov. Cuomo “does not seem to care about the safety of the children.” O’Reilly, a conservative radio and television host, urges viewers to contact Gov. Andrew Cuomo and demand that he not pursue “these extreme abortion measures.”
