According to Fox News on Monday, entrepreneur-turned-television star-turned-politician Donald Trump is suing famed television comedian Bill Maher for $5 million which Trump says Maher owes to the charities of Trump's choice.
Donald Trump releases Birth Certificate to Bill Maher for $5 million donation to Charity
Trump made the announcement on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” television show on Monday morning. The incident began last month when Maher appeared on the NBC “Tonight Show” with Jay Leno and said that he would pay $5 million to the charity of Trump’s choice if Trump would prove that he was not “spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan.”
The public request for Trump’s proof came swiftly in the form of a birth certificate. The Maher offer was similar to the pay-to-chosen-charity offer that Trump offered President Barack Obama during the 2012 presidential campaign season if Obama would release his academic records. Obama refused to do so and passed up the opportunity to earn a huge charitable contribution from Trump, but Trump did not pass up the opportunity to earn an equally huge charitable contribution from Maher. He released proof that he was born by two humans – his parents – and not born by his mother and an orangutan.
Shortly after Maher made the public offer on NBC, Trump’s attorney Scott S. Balber released a letter with Trump’s official birth certificate to earn the charitable donation. To date, Maher has refused to honor the bet, and that is why Trump is suing for the $5 million to charity.
Trump totally disregards the suggestion that Maher's offer was a joke, and he expects Maher to pay up.
