Over the past two weeks two notable conservatives have gone head-to-head in a debate over the future of Egypt. On one end of the spectrum was Glenn Beck, who believed the protests in Egypt would lead to chaos, followed by violence, followed by a one-world Islamic government called a caliphate, and finally an end to the Western way of life as we know it. On the other end of the spectrum was Bill Kristol, who saw the protests as a genuine democratic uprising and saw the potential for good in the revolution. Kristol wrote a column criticizing Beck’s “caliphate conspiracy theory.” Beck followed by forcefully refuting “Billy” as naïve. Yesterday, Kristol claimed that events thus far have proven his side of the argument correct.
While conceding the final results of the revolution are still unknown, Kristol said that the early signs are very good. The revolution was relatively non-violent. Over 300 people died as a result of the violence against the protesters, but there was not the widespread bloodshed that many had feared. The military in Egypt is now keeping the peace in the country, and have promised to cede power to a civilian authority once elections are held in six months. In addition, the Egyptian military has vowed to honor the 1979 peace treaty with Israel. Many conservatives on “Team Beck” had worried that the revolution could serve as a threat to Israel.
Kristol looks at all these recent developments and concludes that the “doomsday” people like Beck overstated their pessimism. In this case, as Kristol puts, the optimists seem to have been proven right. Of course, Beck will likely continue to refute Kristol on Monday. The violence may have ended in Egypt, but the verbal fight between Kristol and Beck is likely to continue.

"...In 1973, Kristol received an A.B. from Harvard, graduating magna cum laude in three years..."
"...Beck and his older sister moved to their father's home in Bellingham, Washington,[13] where Beck graduated from Sehome High School in June 1982..."
"...By 1994, Beck was suicidal, and imagined shooting himself to the music of his fellow Washingtonian, Kurt Cobain.[18] However, he cites the help of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in his sobriety and attended his first AA meeting in November 1994, the month he states he stopped drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis.[18] Beck would later claim that he had gotten high every day for the previous 15 years, since the age of 16..."
I report,
you decide...
who to take your information from.
So Beck had a hard time and got through it! What's your point?
In response to Iran's nuclear program, Kristol supports the strong sanctions. In June 2006, at the height of the Lebanon War, he suggested that, "We might consider countering this act of Iranian aggression with a military strike against Iranian nuclear facilities. Why wait?"
Do we really still want to go to war or has Mr. Kristol changed like Beck?
wow, eggman just burned you.......
walrus has gone conservative?
Of course the answer is; I get my information from the man that has been there, GLENN BECK, not some Harvard elite. That is who the progressives fawn over.
Sticking it to the man as always
Sincerely ,
klatoo
eggman, the wino on the corner dropped out in eighth grade...he has gone through more alcohol then Beck and is less educated than Beck...that should make you salivate because he is the total anti-elite.
walrus so glad to see you serve your masters well
as long as the check clears...but, you know that already...them goldline checks cleared, didn't they?
Both Neocons are all Israel all the time.
Israel Firsters.
Wash U 81?
srry was it ur turn?
I see fortunes have since smiled admirally upon that man Beck. Egad had that dreary cad kristol had the queen's patience he would never have been fobbed off the way he was, just pitiful. Awfully good show old man that Glenn Beck. Good show chap.
Bill ,I think you better answer the 6 questions Glenn asked his audience to look up today ,before you claim victory. You are now the fourth conservative "elitist" that has been self exposed, to me, lately. You guys better figure it out and get on the right side of history because "We the People" are getting more informed and doing some "community organizing" ourselves. The young Egyptians aren't the only ones getting self educated and using this fancy new hi-tech gadgetry for social networking and peaceful revolution. We are aware of the hidden agendas and rejoice in the power of the truth. And by the way this isn't just about Taxed Enough Already we're getting a little bit pissed with all the condescension and snobbery from the so called "educated elite". Do you and Charles ever see Rupert Murdoch, George Soros, and the Bushes hanging out when he lets you tag along to those Council on Foreign Relation gigs?
Silly debate. Only time will tell who is right...
hmmmm now that the muslim brotherhood is trying to be recognized as a political party in Egypt still think Beck is crazy???? wake up people
LOL, it is like two wolves debating on what to have for dinner, they are both traitors. This is dog and pony show.
