Comedian Bill Cosby will visit Fresno on March 1 to perform at Saroyan Theatre, the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center announced Tuesday.

Cosby will share his latest comic insights beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at $49.50, $59.50 and $78 each and are available at Ticketmaster.com.

"In the 1960s, his stand-up act was a coast-to-coast sensation, spawning a string of hilarious, best-selling comedy albums, which went on to win eight Gold Records, five Platinum records and five Grammy Awards," according to a convention center news release.

"His role on TV’s 'I Spy' made him the first African-American to co-star in a dramatic series, breaking television’s racial barrier and winning three Emmy Awards. In the 1980s, he again rocked the television world with the The Cosby Show, a gentle, whimsical and hugely successful series that single-handedly revived the family sitcom (and rescued NBC)."

In January, word leaked that Cosby is working on a new television series for NBC.

According to ABC News, Cosby "would play the head of a multigenerational family, returning to the same network where his groundbreaking 1980s sitcom 'The Cosby Show' ran for eight seasons."
