Bikini bridge: The latest pathetic attempt to shame imperfect people

A bikini bridge is the latest pathetic attempt to shame imperfect people. Some reports state it is designed to shun those who are fat, but it really comes down to "imperfect" people. Why? Inquisitr reported Jan. 9 that the new bikini bridge trend is about "thinspiration" for 2014.

The hashtage #bikinibridge recently posted onTwitter and Tumblr states that this new phenomenon is “bikini bottoms are suspended between the two hip bones, causing a space between the bikini and the lower abdomen.”

According to the report, this ridiculous trend is linked to 4chan, "the image-sharing board that has been responsible for a number of hoaxes in the past."

An anonymous user started the whole thing with “Operation Bikini Bridge." It was about members coming up with and circulating photos of what is considered the bikini bridge. Piercing quotes were added as well.

One such quote reads: "If you have time to complain, you have time to train.”

4chan intends to next place more shame on the overweight now that the bikini bridge has bombarded social media.

Despite the hoax, there are thousands of Instagram users falling for the trend -- posting pictures of their own bikini bridges and showing off.

The bikini bridge is about being ultra-thin. It is not just about shaming the overweight because even average or healthy sized individuals are made to feel they are not thin enough. This is just yet another form of promoting an unhealthy, scrawny appearance in women.
