Bikers head to NYC for motorcycle show, January 18-20

Here we are in the “Ides of January,” my friends, and what would be the most exciting thing for bikers to do this weekend? Why, to shuffle off to New York City for the International Motorcycle Show on January 18-20 at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan! Believe me when I say there is plenty to see and do in New York City, but even if you never leave the Javits Center, you will need at least two hours to stroll through the entire show. The weather in the City is going to be a balmy 35-45 degrees all weekend so it's a great way to get some Spring Fever inspiration.

Some of the major exhibitors include Harley-Davidson of course, BMW of North America, Indian Motorcycle Company, Indian Larry Motorcycles, Ducati North America, American Honda Motor Co., American Suzuki Motor Co., and many, many more. However, there are not only motorcycles to see and sit on, but several leather vendors, motorcycle equipment dealers, representatives from motorcycle associations, and last but not least, New York Rider Magazine!

Most of the bikers around the Capital District have been to the NYC motorcycle show at one time or another, and some make it an annual trip. The NYC show is one of the only reasons I love this time of year. It can be both relaxing and exciting to spend the day at the Javits Center. There are stunt shows throughout the weekend and usually a celebrity or two making an appearance. By the way, there are food vendors in the Javits Center also, or plenty of taxi’s outside the building ready to take you to a great NYC restaurant. My first recommendation would be John’s Pizzeria on West 44th, or Carmine’s on the same street (that is, if you are not heading to Little Italy, in which case I would recommend Lombardi’s at 32 Spring Street, America’s first pizzeria!) If you have enough time for some NYC nightlife while you’re there, check out the Iron Horse Saloon on 32 Cliff Street, and Hudson Yards Café at 450 10th Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen!

Be sure to visit the New York Rider Magazine booth at the show and say hi! We have some special guests coming on Saturday, so don't miss it!
