In a horrifying biker attack on an SUV that was all caught on video, a swarm of bikers, enraged after an SUV driver ran over one of their own, hounded the driver on a harrowing 4-mile chase and attacked the SUV, injuring the driver, who was with his wife and 2-year-old daughter, reports UPI on October 1.
The incident occurred Sunday on New York’s Henry Hudson Parkway near W. 116th Street. Alexian Lien, 33, of Lower Manhattan, was driving his Range Rover when he was literally surrounded by a mob of bikers. The hell-on-wheels pack of 30 bikers were hogging the northbound lanes of the highway, boxing Lien in, police sources said.
The ride, loosely organized by a group that calls itself Hollywood Stuntz, was composed of mostly street bikes and dirt bikes.
One of the bikers, who evidently was taunting Lien, braked while driving directly in front of the SUV, causing Lien to hit him. The biker was not injured, but the accidental fender bender turned into a terrifying road rage incident.
Lien, who was celebrating his first wedding anniversary with his wife Rosalyn and their 2-year-old child, stopped to ensure the biker was okay, but was accosted by the other bikers who began to damage his SUV. Lien, afraid for his life and that of his family, fled, driving over at least three of the motorcycles and breaking the legs of one of the bikers.
Video footage taken by one of the bikers and uploaded to YouTube shows Lien’s SUV getting caught at a red light as he exited the parkway in Washington Heights. One of the motorcyclists removed his helmet and used it to smash Lien’s diver side window. Lien was dragged out of the vehicle and punched and slashed in the face with a knife, as his family and horrified witnesses watched in broad daylight. He was treated at Columbia University Medical Center and released.
“He’s surrounded by about 20 to 30 motorcyclists,” NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said. “They take their helmets and they start to dent his car and apparently his tires are slashed there with a knife. He’s in the car with his wife. He continues to drive.”
A witness to the biker pack, Cynthia Williams, said: “They had been riding all over the city being a menace. They went up on the sidewalk. It was just so many of them that they took up the whole street.”
The man that Lien ran over, Jeremiah Mieses, 26, was “bleeding out of his mouth and nose even though he had a helmet on,” said a witness, who asked to remain anonymous. “He was conscious but couldn’t move at all.”
“My son just got out of surgery. Now we have to contend with his situation that he will never walk again,” Mieses’ father said.
Lien was not charged, and NYPD police are analyzing the video looking for suspects. If you have any information on these riders, the NYPD asks that you contact them.
