Bike shop review - Slippery Pig Bike Shop Too

Slippery Pig Bike Shop Too in Fountain Hills, Ariz., will probably wind up saving a lot of people’s riding plans.

It’s about four miles south of McDowell Mountain Regional Park, one of the Valley's popular destinations for mountain bikers. That puts is in perfect position to rescue your ride if you left something at home. I’ll own up to being a perfect example: I left two frozen bottles of Cytomax in my freezer nearly 30 miles away. Though temperatures are cooling down, it’s still hot enough that a long ride here requires some electrolytes. Slippery Pig Bike Shop Too bailed me out with a pair of bottles and a tube of electrolyte tablets.
It also has other essentials - energy gels, tubes, lubes, sealant, tires, chains and more. If you broke something you can't fix, they can help you out with repairs. If your old ride is worn out and you want to replace it, Slippery Pig can accomodate you. It's also a rather friendly place without the "I'm faster than you" vibe of some local shops.

Slippery Pig keeps most of its fancier bikes and parts in its central Phoenix location - that’s where you’ll find Truvativ Noir carbon-fiber cranks in just about every color, along with tons of wonder bikes and long-travel suspension forks. The Fountain Hills store seems to fill the role of family bike store rather than pro shop. But it still has some high-end gear, too.

And it will definitely fill the role of ride savior. The store’s management also built some extra goodwill among riders by sponsoring the past summer’s series of Mountain Bike in the Moonlight rides at the park. That should also bring a few more people in for a visit.
