National Bike Challenge and Rust Belt Battle of the bikes

Here is a chance for you to join over 50,000 riders from across the nation in a challenge to ride 30 million miles as part of the National Bike Challenge. The summer long event is a free and friendly competition that is designed to get people out and riding as daily commuters, weekend tours, family rides or organized group rides. To participate, all you do is log in your miles during the summer at NationalBikeChallenge.org (or through one of the approved mobile apps). You can compete as an individual, team, company, city or state against others across the country.

The official starting date for the challenge is May 1, 2014 and will end on September 30, 2014. Register now while you are thinking about it. Just go to NationalBikeChallenge.org and check out the new platform where you can start trash talking. Last year that city to the southeast beat us in the challenge. This year it is time to bring back the Rust Cup back to Cleveland.

So get on your social media pages and start recruiting your friends and family then register to win prizes as well as the opportunity to brag. It’s never too soon or too late to join. Register today!

Volunteer to count bikes

Cleveland and NOACA needs your help in counting people on bikes on May 6, 7, 8 and 10, 2014. The data collected will be used to improve biking conditions across our community. Those participating will receive a gift card to a local bike shop for their efforts as well as receiving the satisfaction that they have contributed in making the area a safer place for bicyclists. SIGN UP NOW.

For those participating in the bike count for the first time with NOACA you will need to attend a short orientation session. For more information and to sign-up visit NOACA.org or contact Marc Von Allmen at mvonallmen@mpo.noaca.org or 216-241-2414 ext. 250.

Ohio Women's Bicycling Summit
