WUTK the Rock presents: The Whigs & Royal Bangs

with Three Man Band

Thursday, February 4, 8:00 PM

Two explosive bands coming up in early February, The Whigs, and Knoxville’s own Royal Bangs. The New York Times, Jon Pareles said this of The Whigs, “two-chord guitar and drums furor worthy of The Who.” The Athens, GA trio has a fervent following and a well-deserved reputation for totally throwing themselves into a performance.
Co-headliners, Royal Bangs’ sound could be described as hook-heavy indie rock with touches of tasty synthy sonic mayhem. 2009 ended with the band rocking dates throughout Europe. Let It Beep is their most recent album - and it rocks. Three Man Band opens the evening.

Between the Buried and Me

After countless tours, nearly 250,000 records sold, and recording one of last year’s most celebrated albums, The Great Misdirect, Between The Buried And Me have every right to feel invigorated. While most often labeled metalcore or progressive metal, a first listen reveals a disparate mix of jazz, hard rock, and even folk influences running through the music. Genre labels aside, this show will be hard to beat with 4 absolutely killer bands taking the stage throughout the evening.
